Queen City Conference Championship Meet - Boyce Park

Our Conference Championship meet is tomorrow. Please read the information below.
 
            2:40-Team is out of class; Drivers need to be in the lower parking lot @2:45

            4:00-First Call for Boys

            4:15-Begin Boys' Race

            4:30-Second Call for Girls
            4:30-Begin Girls' Race
            5:15-Return to Trinity
            5:45-6:00-Arrive at Trinity
 
A few things to note:
  • If your child needs a ride back to Trinity, please contact me ASAP to arrange for a return ride after the meet.
  • Please park in the parking spaces in Boyce Road Park. Do not park on the grass or along the drive into the park. They will tow and/or ticket. If there are no spaces available, park at Charlotte Prep School at the corner of Boyce Road and Sardis Road.
  •  Please go over the meet information in the links to the right, "TES General Meet Information" and "Meet Directions"
  • Our drivers for the meet are:  McDonald, Brown, Roncevich, Warlick, Everett.  If you are available to drive students back to school, please email me as soon as possible. We need to leave by 2:55, so please arrive in the lower parking lot by 2:55.
  • Runners will need to bring a full water bottle. There will be water provided but it's always a good idea to bring your own.

Explanation

The reason we are not running all of our runners for both meets is two pronged. First, the team has set goals for the conference championships and to give us the best chance to reach these goals, some of our runners need an easy day, not a race, tomorrow. Second, I want some of the runners who do not usually score for the team to experience a little bit of what it will be like for them next year. Just a little bit of added pressure that I think will be a good learning experience for the future.

If your son/daughter is not racing tomorrow and they can still make it to the race, it would be ideal. I would like for them to run an easy 30 min. before the race and then cheer their teammates on. Please have them wear a Trinity t-shirt (New XC shirt?). If they cannot attend, please have them run on their own. Thanks and I will post our itinerary later this evening.

Queen City Conference Meet # 4 (Fisher Farm-Davidson Day)

Sorry about the late post. I was in Chicago this weekend and little time and access for the blog. A few things before the meet essentials.
  • We need drivers. We only have 8 seats for 20 runners today. If you can drive and were planning to attend. Please email/call me. 
  • Driving directions have changed due to construction. Please check the link.
  • Reminder: If your child needs a ride back to Trinity, please let me know. Seats are limited.
  • T-Shirts have arrived and if you ordered one, Mrs. Jones will distribute them today. 
  • With the threat of rain, there is always the possibility of cancellation. Please check your email after 12:30. If there is no meet, we will have a regular practice.

Dropped meets

I've gotten several emails about dropped meets and I just want to clear up a few things about them.

All of the 6th graders dropped one of the first two meets (H&H and Cannon invites).
All of the 6th graders will drop one more meet out of the following:
  • Sept 26 - Charlotte Latin
  • Oct. 11 - Fisher Farm
  • Oct. 17 - Gaston Day
We will all run (not necessarily race) on Thursday at Boyce Park. This is the site of our conference championship and I want them all to run the course.

I would prefer the 6th graders drop Sept. 26 or Oct. 11. I plan to have the rest of the team not run on Oct. 17 while letting the 6th grade race (experience, give the rest of the team a rest before Conference Championship). I want to wait to see how the season plays out so look for updates about the last two races. This is not set in stone. I wanted to be flexible for their schedules and to give the team the best chance to be successful at the last meet of the season.

Please check your email frequently on Monday. There is a distinct possibility that this meet will be canceled or postponed. The course at Charlotte Latin could be very muddy due to weekend rain.

Cannon Invitational Information

Our second meet of the year is the Cannon Invitational. Our teams have competed in this meet since 2005. This is a large meet with 100+ middle school boys and 100+ middle school girls. There will be high school races following our races. The girls will race at 8:15; boys at 8:45. A few things to note:

  •  Please go over the meet information in the links to the right, "TES General Meet Information", "2011 Cannon Invitational, and "Meet Directions"
  • If you are interested in carpooling (a good idea, parking is limited), I will be at Trinity at 6:15 to leave at 6:30 for the meet. We have one driver, Mr. Owens. Please email me if your child needs a ride or you would like to carpool.
  • If you are driving to the meet, please arrive at the meet by 7:15. Parking will be tough so please plan accordingly. Send me an email letting me know that you will be driving to the meet.
  • Our tent will be on the field inside the track. There will be many tents....
  • Runners will need to bring a full water bottle. There will be water provided but it's always a good idea to bring your ow.
  • There will be concessions and t-shirts ($10). 
  • If you would like to arrive early, there are several TES alumni running in the high school races.
  • IMPORTANT: 6th graders that raced last week, this is a "drop" race for you.

Hares and Hounds XC Meet

We are racing for the first time this season on Saturday at McAlpine Park! This is a larger meet with approximately 100 middle school boys and 100 middle school girls in addition to 4 high school races. The boys will race at 11:30; girls at 12:00. A few things to note:

  •  Please go over the meet information in the links to the right, "TES General Meet Information", "2011 Hares and Hounds Invitational", and "Meet Directions"
  • Please arrive at the meet by 10:30. Parking will be tough so please plan accordingly.
  • Our tent will be across the bridge and on the right. There will be many tents....
  • Runners will need to bring a full water bottle. There will be water provided but it's always a good idea to bring your own
  • There will be concessions and t-shirts ($10). 
  • If you would like to arrive early, there are several TES alumni running in the high school races.
  • IMPORTANT: 6th graders only need to race 1 of the first 2 races on our schedule (Hares and Hounds and Cannon Invite). I would prefer they not race both weekends.
